Screenshots
Screenshots are very useful to show something on your computer to someone over the internet. However, a surprisingly few number of people know how to take them. This tutorial hopes to change that. All you need is Paint, a program that comes with Microsoft operating systems. The following list shows you how.
- Make sure what you want to take a screenshot of is on the current screen.
- Press "Print Screen" on your keyboard. It is above the arrow keys and insert, and to the left of scroll lock.
- Open Paint. Click Start, All Programs (Programs in 98), Accessories, and Paint.
- Click the "Select" icon. A picture of it is below.

- Right click and select "Paste". What was on the screen when you pressed print screen should now appear on the paint canvas.
- Save the image as you would a normal picture. The default is .bmp, but you may want to save it as a .jpg since it is most commonly used.
Screenshots are especially useful when you have an error you don't know how to deal with. You can upload them to a image hosting site and show them on forums related to the error your computer is generating. This is just one of the many useful functions of a screenshot.
